CURRICULUM FOR
 CATECHESIS AND FAITH FORMATION

Creating Safe & Sacred Environments
As a directive from the Diocese of Superior, we have implemented the “Creating Safe and Sacred                Environments” within our Christian Formation programs.  The Bishop’s charter, “Promise to Protect and Pledge to heal”, stated it was important for the Catholic Church to identify, prevent and to advocate for those people who have endured any form of abuse.  The objective to “Creating Safe and Sacred Places” is to create an environment so that all can feel safe at anytime. The goal is to teach all people protective behaviors, the norms of a healthy sexual being, making good choices and to recognize the signs of abuse.

The information provided will only cover main goals and objectives, we need parental involvement and support as we create a more safe and comfortable surroundings for our parish and community.  To respect your wishes, you may choose whether or not your family will participate in the “Creating Safe and Sacred Places” sessions.  A form will be available for you to fill out prior to the session, letting us know your wishes.

Education on abuse within the community is very general.  We, as a Church, have the privilege of providing this information through the Gospel lens (through scripture, spirituality, prayer and an understanding of  morality and the church).

St. Patrick’s Parish
St. Patrick’s parish runs CF sessions from grades 3 years old through 8th grade on Sunday mornings.  The sessions begin at  9:45am and end prior to the 11am Sunday Service.  The  tuition fee for any St. Patrick’s member  attending CF sessions is picked up by their own parish.  If a St. Patrick’s member chooses to attend CF sessions in grades 3y-8 at IC, that member will then be responsible for any fees incurred.

All other guidelines and policies are the same as Immaculate Conception, refer to those sections for            information.  Home Catechesis is available through IC.  See Home Catechesis section for details.

If you can not attend a session on Sunday morning, please contact your child’s catechist.

St. Mary's School
The focus of the curriculum at St. Mary's School is children receiving instruction in Catholic Identity          Formation.  This formation is evidenced throughout the basic comprehensive elementary and middle school curriculums as well as formal religion classes, daily prayer experiences, weekly Liturgy and community service.  The basic curriculum is complemented by instruction in fine arts, computer technology, and physical education/health programs.  If your child(ren) attend St. Mary’s School they are not required to attend the Christian Formation Program, however, during the sacramental years of 2nd grade, St. Mary’s students and parents are to attend the appropriate sacramental preparation sessions.  All Sacramental preparation will be handled by the Immaculate Conception Sacramental  Coordinator.
