CATECHESIS AND FAITH FORMATION MISSION STATEMENT

INFORM WITH FAITH
FORM WITH HOPE
TRANSFORM WITH LOVE

We, the Christian Formation Team
of the Church of the Immaculate Conception
of the Blessed Virgin in New Richmond
have a mission as Catholic Christians
to enliven the Spirit in the members of the parish.
We fulfill this mission
by integrating religious truth and values with the rest of life,
by inspiring each person, young and old,
to grow in wisdom, age, and grace,
by providing an environment that encourages goodness and virtue,
by giving people respect,
by allowing serious application of the education tasks,
by nurturing curiosity of students and adults,
so that a continuance of spiritual growth
in our members can be accomplished.

WHAT IS CATECHESIS AND FAITH FORMATION?

Catechesis and Faith Formation is a process of learning about our faith.  This learning starts at birth with the example set by parents and other persons of faith that are significant in the child's life.  As a child grows, this learning becomes more formal as teachings of the Church are not only shown by example, but taught through instructional sessions.  The learning does not stop with the reception of the sacrament of Confirmation.  Adults come to a greater appreciation of Church and God's love by continuing to learn more about their faith and how that enhances their relationship to God. We, on the Catechesis and Faith Formation Team, encourage all members, young and old, to participate in the sessions offered throughout the course of the year.
